Training is a term usually used by employer for defining ''acquirement of dexterity, expertise, and competency through vocational and practical skills, it helps us gain special skills which might be workable for occupational or professional use. But question here is why training is thought to be tougher and why this statement ''training– more than grunt work'' has appeared on the surface. Let's take a closer look of the technicalities involved in training and GRUNT WORK.

What is grunt work? The job, which is handed to the lower level employees, is typically known as ''Grunt Work.'' A CEO of an international soft drink company is paid highly for her services. She is punctual in coming for work and cleverly controls the business of the company. An employee, of a similar international soft drink company, also works day and night for the progress of his care-taking company or precisely speaking works more diligently but is not paid much. Why so? What is it? The employee of lower level has ''Grunt Work'' in his hand.

Okay that is the way Grunt Work is handed but why training is titled as harder then grunt work? When a trainee steps in any institute, he is provided by the tasks to complete his training and here is where he is taken to the tougher duty then ''Grunt Work.'' Let's make things clear with reference to below providing details showing the features which make it tougher.



A trainee in search of some job enters the institution, which promises him a good paying job. Most of the companies are working for hiring trainees and promising them jobs, in case their efficiencies being in order with the qualities of the services the firm needs. All around the world a huge number of youngsters spend two-three months taking professional training at these training and job-offering firms. Some of the firms give free training while some do ask for payments. These payments are meant for paid training.

Trainees join training classes and start to work painstakingly. Trainees all around the world are found indulged in studious activities. They work to meet the required caliber of the firm, so that they get the desired job in the firm. In the beginning of their careers, they are provided with vocational instructions by an employee of the firm. They teach them the nitty-gritty of the work they are required to perform at their workplace. They work hard to comprehend the details.

Now comes the time to make the statement ''training- more than grunt work.'' Trainee working to score more grades tries to work harder and harder and they are then piled up with the tasks from ''grunters.'' The employees put their workloads on these trainees. They just keep them elves busy in putting up their task for them. Poor trainees work harder and harder, to meet up the qualifications. And grunters try suppressing his abilities. He works harder and more tasks are piled on his table. Spending extra hours on his table and training, they work for earning good grades.


In trying to get his training a trainee may also work, free of cost. Free of cost in most cases and in even more severe cases he works for paying from his own pocket. Grunt workers if not paid as high as higher-level employee of the firm are paid for their services but for a trainee, he has to serve without a cent and even worse paying a huge cost.

Results of his service can be of various natures. Some times the trainee who has worked diligently succeeds to get his desired job and some time he is asked for more money to get the job he has applied for. Some times when training is paid for, the job is provided to the trainee after a gap of some months.

Surveys have shown that many of the trainees keep remarking for training as ''training-more than grunt work.'' Some have passed through reasonable experiences but some had had their worst experiences.

One such trainee during the survey interviews had been questioned: what is training? He answered: ''training- more than grunt work'' details were asked and he narrated. That he had his training in a firm, which promised him a job. He was asked for studious work, as it would increase his chances of getting the job. He worked meticulously and tried hard to please his higher employees. He was always provided by huge tasks from grunters promising him that he will soon be sitting with them enjoying his job but at the end of the training session, he was asked to leave and contact later. The worse is that he served them without earning money. What made his situation worse is that his time was not valued and later he was reported as not being eligible for the job.

The person, who gets the job, finds himself in the line of ''grunt workers.'' It is so natural a phenomenon, grunters are used by higher-level employees and trainees have to serve ''grunt workers'' free of cost. This is why they say, ''training- more than grunt work.''
