The Training Specialist will support the development, implementation and continuous improvement of employee competencies across PAA. Responsibilities include administratively supporting competency management development through system data mining and employee engagement. The Training Specialist will assist with analysis of job competency profiles, employee assessments, and the consolidation of data analytics in order to further refine the Competency Development Program and respective Skills Development Programs for various business areas. This position will also be responsible for developing, coordinating, organizing and evaluating training plans for Plains employees in support of broader PAA Training initiatives and the Operations Management Systems (OMS) initiatives. Reports to the Competency Development Supervisor.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Assist with the implementation and continuous improvement of the Competency Mgmt. Program and respective Skills Development Programs for various business areas.
Provide administrative support for internal communications and assist with administrative coordination for visits to multiple field locations.
Facilitate and lead working sessions to build Job Competency Profiles for various business areas.
Compile and effectively analyze data from within the Competency software in order to support initiatives for employee performance and development.
Assist in the development and measurement of performance metrics and KPIs for the Plains Operations Management System.
Incorporate blended learning strategies and instructional methodologies into training program design.
Participate in the budget preparation process to provide input for monetary resources to conduct employee development activities.
Ensure proper tracking and data management of all training activities, related expenses and subsequent effectiveness of the employee development program.
Must be able to travel up to 10% of time.
KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:
Thorough understanding of training development and delivery within a corporate environment.
Superb verbal and written communication skills and ability to effectively work with people of varying backgrounds at different levels of the organization. Able to lead working sessions with large groups.
Able to work collaboratively with various audiences/partners to resolve issues.
Strong creativity and innovation, including excellent organization, project management and problem solving skills.
Ability to comprehend diverse regulatory and technical issues.
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in Business, Communications, Human resources, Education, Psychology, Instructional Design or Organizational Development field(s).
Five+ years working with learning/development/competency initiatives or similar program development for enterprise initiatives
Demonstrated successful experience working in a demanding, high performance work environment.
