Job Function:  Reporting to the CFO, this individual will oversee the accounting function and overall day-to-day management of accounting and financial controls of this dynamic, high-growth company. Ensure the accounting department serves the accounting needs of external constituents, the overall company and operating units within the organization. Also ensure that monthly, quarterly and annual financial reporting is completed on a timely basis and in accordance with GAAP.  Continuously improve accounting processes consistent with best practices. The Corporate Controller responsibilities include all accounting operations, internal controls, and audit. The Corporate Controller is the primary point of contact with key partners including external auditors, majority owner accounting representatives and other third-party service providers.\r

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:\r

\r
\r
Oversee the operations of the accounting department, including optimizing the departmental organizational structure, controls and processes to achieve department's goals and objectives\r
Lead and oversee all general accounting functions, including the monthly general ledger and financial close processes, cost accounting and accounting operations consisting of accounts payable and accounts receivable transaction processing, inventory and fixed asset management \r
Ensure efficient, effective execution of transactions as well as compliance with the company's policies in these areas.  Evaluate and make recommendations with respect to automation or other opportunities to improve the effectiveness of the department.  Maintain desk procedures, establish and report on critical service levels.\r
Lead and coordinate the preparation of all aspects of GAAP reporting.  Oversee and coordinate the information requirements and analysis needed to support external reviews and annual audit. \r
Manage and develop accounting team by providing overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of this team. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; addressing complaints and resolving problems.\r
Assess, implement and maintain accounting systems\r
Lead policy, procedure and process development and improvements ensuring compliance with GAAP\r
Perform other duties as assigned\r

Education and Work Experience:\r
\r
\r
\r
\r
\r
B.A., B.S. in Accounting; CPA strongly desired;  MBA preferred\r
12 years of progressive combined public or private accounting related experience.  Expertise in GAAP principles.  Experience in mid-sized (~$100M ) environment. \r
Experience with government \/ DOD programs and contracting desired.  Experience with both product and service businesses desired.\r
Strong experience in GAAP\/SEC reporting, technical accounting research and implementation of business process improvements.  Advanced knowledge of Excel\r
A proven track record of process improvement and experience with financial systems, best practices and managing process change initiatives. Experience with accounting system implementations required.\r
