The Employment Training Specialist will provide group and individual employment training and support regular individualized support and guidance to individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorders/High Functioning Autism (ASD/HFA) who are attempting to learn and expand skills necessary to obtain and maintain employment commensurate with their skills and education. Employment Training Specialist will assist with completing vocational evaluations, and may provide on-site observation and support at volunteer, community work experience, internship and/or paid employment. Employment Training Specialist may be required to communicate regularly with employers, volunteer project leads, and other parties involved in the participants’ jobs and projects. The Employment Training Specialist will be required to maintain contact logs, progress notes and monthly reports. The Employment Training Specialist will communicate any challenges and/or concerns to the Employment Services Manager and Assistant Director and participate in team meetings and required training as appropriate and necessary.
Minimum Bachelor Degree (preferred) in Social Work, Special Education or Vocational Rehabilitation or related field.
Minimum of 2 years experience working with young adults with autism spectrum disorders required. Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities and/or employment is a plus.
SKILLS & ABILITIES
Must be able to use computer to enter data and complete reports.
Must have working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
Must be comfortable using email to communicate in professional settings.
Demonstrated excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to work independently.
Ability to work 1:1 providing support and promoting independence in a work setting.
Ability to facilitate group education.
Must demonstrate ability to behave in professional manner at all times.
Must be able to interface with businesses/corporations.
Must be comfortable using various forms of public transportation.
