Over the last couple of years there has been a great rise in the number of people who have become more interested in physical fitness. More people have started to take time out of their busy lives to keep themselves fit. Fitness training is a fast growing profession around the world. A personal trainer provides guidance and education people regarding proper eating habits, exercises that can be done to keep you fit, cardio-vascular training and other such things. The main goal of a personal fitness trainer is to keep their clients fit and healthy all the time. A personal trainer monitors and instructs the clients and ensures safe and effective use of various fitness equipments. Personal fitness training is a perfect job for someone who likes being fit, loves exercising, follows healthy eating habits and loves to motivate others. Your job is to motivate and guide clients to reach their fitness goals. If you love fitness, you not only get paid for what you love to do but you also get satisfaction for helping thousands of people to stay fit.

A fitness trainer is supposed to know human body well; a personal trainer should have a high school diploma, or a GED. A four year degree in a related field is also an advantage. No responsible gym will hire a personal trainer who does not have a certified qualification in fitness training. The Aerobics and Fitness Association of America (AFAA) provides certification to personal trainers. It is important for an AFAA-certified personal trainer to be certified to administer CPR. There are other courses like Nike Aerobics Course or Reebok Instructor Course which, if done, can fortify your CV.

Apart from doing various fitness courses, a personal trainer must be a role model to his clients. This does not mean that you have to be a body builder but being in good health and good physique is expected. Once you have your certificates, approach renowned gyms. Look for gyms that have a good client base. Spas are other institutions that require a personal fitness trainer. Most high profile people would not mind hiring a personal instructor for them if they like your work. So, try to stay in sight of such people. Being a personal trainer for a sports person or an actor can be very lucrative. Later on if it is something that you wish to do you can open up your own gym. Make sure you advertise your gym using local papers, flyers, news boards, and the internet.

Personal fitness training has great opportunities world wide. If you have a good client base, you can become very successful in the industry. The salary will depend on your experience, the clients and the area where you are operating. Your pay is generally on hour basis. On an average, you can demand $15 per hour if you are working for a gym and $45 if you are working with a client personally.
